NORFOLK, Va. — The pain on Kreetay Briggs face says it all. The 12-year-old is speaking for the first time about the shooting at Buckroe Beach this past weekend that left him in a hospital bed.
"This right here is still not fixed, I'm still not feeling good," said Briggs. "All I remember is that I was running with my little friend and then my mom said, 'Come here' and then I heard pow, pow, pow," said Briggs.
What was supposed to be a fun day in the surf turned into a chaotic storm of gunfire.
"And then I started running to my mom and I got hit and I was still trying to make it to my mom but I was shaking and still running and that's all I remember," said Briggs.
He was shot in the back, the bullet nearly missing his spine. A seven-year-old and two adults were also shot. So far, there have been no arrests in the case.
"I'm mad that that happened and I want them to find that person because he got me really in pain and this is not good this is not the real me," said Briggs.
All four victims are expected to recover but it's going to be a long road for Briggs. He was looking forward to an exciting summer vacation. He says it's frustrating that all his plans have been put on hold.
"Not being able to play sports, not playing with my friends, not playing video games, not being able to eat, no basketball," said Briggs.
