WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Busch Gardens Williamsburg announced Wednesday that it will implement a chaperone policy for the remainder of Howl-O-Scream this year.
The chaperone policy will go into effect this Friday and last though November 3.
After 4 p.m., anyone younger than age 16 will have to be accompanied by someone at least 21-years-old, park officials said in a press release. The policy requires the chaperone to be with the minor at entry and stay inside the park and be available by phone for the entire visit.
Additionally, the park said that guests who are 16-years-old or older will now be required to show a valid government-issued photo ID to prove their age.
The announcement stated that the policy was part of Busch Gardens' commitment to the safety of guests and team members.
The new safety measure comes after a stabbing and a large fight at the park in just the past two weeks.
