Police: Man robs gas station with knife in Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Elizabeth City Police are investigating an armed robbery at a gas station on Saturday.

Police responded to a call around 6:48 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Road Street. That's where the Speedway Gas station is located.

Police said a man walked into the store with a knife and demanded money from the clerk.

Surveillance video photos show the man holding the knife while the clerk grabs money from the register.

The suspect is described as a black man, around 5 feet 7 inches, weighing about 200 pounds. He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans, and black shoes. 

He left the store with an unknown amount of cash.
