NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Police say a man and a woman spent their Valentine's Day together holding up a Newport News gas station.
The robbery happened shortly after 6 p.m. at the Speedway located in the 11000 block of Jefferson Avenue. Investigators say the couple entered the convenience store and demanded cash.
One suspect was armed with a gun, while the other sprayed some kind of substance at the clerk. They took an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled in a gray SUV.
The clerk was treated at the scene by medics for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
