Former Virginia Beach baseball coach pleads guilty to federal child porn charges

A Virginia Beach man accused of exploiting children through social media has pleaded guilty to federal charges.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man could face up to life in prison after pleading guilty to federal charges that he exploited children through social media and sold child sex abuse material (CSAM).

50-year-old Shannon Robbins was arrested back in October 2023.

The US Attorney for Virginia's Eastern District said two of Robbins' victims lived nearby, and that Robbins previously coached a local travel baseball team. Prosecutors said Robbins created multiple online accounts to contact minors and sold CSAM images and videos to another person.

Prosecutors said Robbins sent thousands of text messages to the two local victims, spending time with them when no other adult was present and frequently allowing them to spend time in his garage, where the victims played darts and socialized. According to court documents, Robbins also took the victims on outings to Bass Pro Shops and to Busch Gardens Williamsburg with no other adult present.

Robbins is scheduled to be sentenced in February and faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
