VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A child porn case against a Virginia Beach man is moving to federal court after city officials withdrew state charges Friday.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, 50-year-old Shannon Robbins is being charged with receipt and/or distribution of child pornography, sales of child pornography, possession of child pornography, coercion and enticement of a minor, and transfer of obscene material to a minor.
The update comes after Robbins was arrested in October on 10 charges of child pornography after a SWAT team searched his home on Creekwood Court.
A spokesperson for the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said city prosecutors moved to set aside the state charges since the U.S. Attorney’s Office is handling the case.
The spokesperson added that Robbins is still in custody and will soon be transferred to federal custody.
