NORFOLK, Va. — A woman is in the hospital after police say another woman stabbed her in Norfolk on Friday morning.
The stabbing was reported around 10 a.m. in the 300 block of Nicholson Street, which is in Norfolk's Young Terrace neighborhood. Norfolk police said the victim was hospitalized with serious injuries, and that another woman was detained at the scene. Police describe the stabbing as "domestic-related."
This area of Norfolk has seen a wave of violence in recent days. A few blocks down the street in Calvert Square, police are still investigating two separate shootings that happened a day apart.
On Wednesday, a woman was injured after she was struck by a stray bullet in the 800 block of E. Olney Road. Then just over 24 hours later, three men were shot on Bagnall Road, killing one of them.
"This is one of the neighborhoods where we’re struggling with many of the residents who live here to make it safer," Norfolk Police Chief Mark Talbot said on Thursday. "This is another tragic incident we’re hoping to continue to reduce."
All three incidents remain under investigation. If you know anything that can help police, you're asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-562-5887 or submit an online tip at P3Tips.
