CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Two people were displaced after a Chesapeake house accidentally caught on fire late Wednesday morning, officials said.

The fire happened at a one-story house in the 1300 block of Yeadon Road, in the South Norfolk area of the city. The Chesapeake Fire Department responded around 10:45 a.m.

According to the fire department, crews got there within minutes to find heavy smoke coming from the front entrance. The fire was contained to the kitchen and brought under control at 10:56 a.m.

No one was injured, but the fire department said the two people living at the house can't stay due to damage from fire, smoke and water. The Red Cross has been contacted to find them a place to stay.
