CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Multiple people are without a home after a house fire in Chesapeake Tuesday night, officials say.
The Chesapeake Fire Department says they, along with auto-aid units from Virginia Beach, got a call at 11:50 p.m. when neighbors reported a house fire burning in the 1400 block of Walnut Avenue in the Indian River section of the city.
Firefighters got to the scene five minutes later and when they arrived saw fire and smoke coming from the home. Firefighters deployed hose lines inside the home to begin extinguishing the flames.
The fire was marked as under control at 12:20 a.m.
Everyone inside safely evacuated before first responders arrived. No injuries were reported.
Chesapeake Fire Department says investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
