New Year's Eve in Hampton Roads: Where you can ring in 2024 across the seven cities

As 2024 approaches, you may be looking to square away your plans to ring in the new year. Here's a look at some of the local events and festivities on New Year's Eve

NORFOLK, Va. — As 2023 comes to a close, many are making their plans to ring in the new year on New Year's Eve. Here's a look at some of the events and festivities that will be happening across each of the seven cities in Hampton Roads.

Norfolk New Year's Eve events

Waterside District 

"NYE LIVE!" is the Waterside District's celebration. Doors open at 7 p.m., and ticket prices start at $55 each. There are five different packages, but all include live music and entertainment, a champagne toast and a balloon drop at midnight.

Hilton Norfolk The Main 

If you want to spend NYE at The Main, there are four different ticket packages you can choose from, starting at $55 per ticket. The Grand Dessert Buffet opens at 6 p.m. on the fourth floor, but entertainment starts in the ballroom at 8 p.m. 

Ballet Virginia Norfolk 

Local dance organizations are getting ready to perform at Ballet Virginia Norfolk's New Year's Eve Ball. Tickets range from $20 to $50 for a chance to celebrate while enjoying a night of performances. 

The Ghent 

For $49, you can spend your night at the New Years Eve Party at The Ghent. Tickets include a $30 Pour Card, hors d'oeuvres, a champagne toast and live music. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. 

OV Beach Tavern 

In Ocean View, OV Beach Tavern is hosting a celebration that kicks off a 8 p.m. There will be live music, a balloon drop and a champagne toast. The event is free and open to the public, but there are table packages available from $50 to $150 on eventbrite.com.

Virginia Beach New Year's Eve events

Town Center

Virginia Beach Town Center is bringing back Last Night on the Town, where you can find 13News Now's own Sarah Hammond! It's the celebration's 10th year, and tickets start at $180 per person.

Ocean's 14 

Ocean's 14 is hosting "A Night Out In Paradise" on the Oceanfront. For $75 per couple, enjoy food, music and a champagne toast, starting at 7 p.m. 

Delta Virginia Beach Waterfront 

For a party on the Chesapeake Bay, you can head to Tides Coastal Kitchen at Delta Virginia Beach Waterfront for their 2024 "NYE Party on the Bay." Tickets for this event start at $25 each, and it starts at 9 p.m.

Portsmouth New Year's Eve events

Roger Brown's 

Starting at $30/ticket, 24/7 Entertainment/Reef Kings is working with Roger Brown's in Portsmouth to hold a "New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball." It starts at 8 p.m.

The River Restaurant & Lounge 

Out on Victory Boulevard, The River Restaurant & Lounge is hosting a "New Year's Eve Bash," with breakfast at midnight to accompany the classic champagne toast! These tickets start at $30, and the event starts at 9 p.m.

Hampton New Year's Eve events

Downtown Hampton 

Downtown Hampton will be ringing in the new year with a Crab Pot Drop on Queen's Way. The celebration starts at 9 p.m., and participating restaurants and bars will be staying open late for the festivities. 

PBR Hampton 

Starting at 8 p.m., PBR Hampton is hosting its "NYE Live!" celebration. Tickets start at $12 each, but VIP booths are also offered. 

Juan's Mexican Cafe and Cantina 

The "New Year 2024 Masquerade Ball" at Juan's Hampton kicks off at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $30 per person, or $50 per couple. 

Oozlefinch Beers & Blending 

Oozlefinch Beers & Blending is hosting an all-day New Year's Eve party! Starting at 12 p.m., there will be food and drinks. Live music begins at 9 p.m. 

Phoebus Dive Bar 

Starting at 9 p.m., Phoebus Dive Bar is hosting a New Year's Eve party. Attendees are encouraged to wear silver and gold. 

The Vanguard 

For those who like 90's Country music, The Vanguard is hosting a NYE show in Hampton, featuring Nashville Nights. The event starts at 8 p.m., and tickets start at $15. 

Creative Mics 

If you'd rather make your own music to ring in 2024, Creative Mics is hosting its New Year's Eve 2024 'Awakening' Open Mic, starting at 7 p.m. Admission is $15 per person.

Newport News New Year's Eve events

Holiday Inn 

Up in Newport News, 757 Takeover is hosting a New Year's Eve celebration at the Holiday Inn on Omni Boulevard. Tickets start at $35 for General Admission, but VIP packages are also offered. The party starts at 8:30 p.m.

Chesapeake New Year's Eve events

American Legion post 280 

American Legion post 280 Virginia is inviting people to come celebrate New Year's Eve. 
Located at 469 Battlefield Blvd N in Chesapeake, attendees are just asked to bring a dish to share.

Suffolk New Year's Eve events

Rennee's Celebration Center 

In Suffolk, Rennee's Celebration Center is hosting a New Year's party, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 each, and include trinkets, hats, blowers and champagne.

Driving Safely on New Year's Eve

If you plan to drink on New Year's Eve, there are ways to avoid getting behind the wheel. One organization, Drive Safe Hampton Roads, is offering its "757 Sober Ride" program to encourage safe transportation on the holiday. 

At 3 p.m. on December 31, the organization will post a code that's valid for up to $15 off one Lyft ride. The ride must start or end on either the Southside or Peninsula Lyft coverage area, and it's valid between 4 p.m. and 4 a.m.
