'Merry Grinchmas' | Nonprofit holds holiday read-aloud in Norfolk

Families are invited to join the read-aloud that will feature classic holiday stories, including "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

NORFOLK, Va. — A coastal Virginia nonprofit aiming to promote children's literacy is holding its 2nd Annual Merry Grinchmas on Wednesday where there will be a holiday read-aloud.

REACH, which stands for Reading Enriches All Children, regularly holds read-alouds at The Big Free Bookstore in the JANAF Shopping Yard. And it's no different for the most wonderful time of the year.

From 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, families are invited to join the read-aloud that will feature classic holiday stories, including "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Plus, everybody's favorite green scoundrel — the Grinch himself — will be in attendance sure to make it "a memorable evening for all ages."

"Perfect for families, children, and anyone who loves books and the holiday spirit," REACH said in a Facebook post.

The event is free, but the nonprofit asks interested families to RSVP ahead of time so they know how many to expect.

"Let's make this Merry Grinchmas unforgettable," the nonprofit said.
