NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Soundscapes celebrated the Christmas season by doing pop-up concerts in different areas of Newport News.
Soundscapes is a Newport News-based youth development non-profit whose mission is to "invest in the community by providing immersive, engaging music-making and ensemble performance opportunities for young people to strengthen social, emotional creative and critical thinking skills."
On Wednesday and Friday of this week, the group spread holiday cheer through surprise visits to different businesses and organizations such as the Mariners' Museum and Goosemas Vendor Market.
The events allowed the young musicians to show off their talents and provide free concerts to the public.
Soundscapes will also be performing on Saturday at the 8th Annual Village Gingerbread Celebration, happening from 4 - 9 p.m. on Warwick Avenue.
