SURRY COUNTY, Va. — A man died after being hit by a vehicle on Route 10 in Surry County Tuesday morning, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
The crash happened at the intersection with Magnolia Circle outside of the town of Surry. According to VSP, the call came in around 4:11 a.m.
Investigators believe that a 2015 Volkswagen Passat was heading eastbound when it wasn't able to avoid hitting a person in the roadway.
The pedestrian, 67-year-old Ahmed F. Ahmed of Surry, died at the scene.
The driver of the Passat was unhurt. State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
