VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Democrat Jennifer McClellan has won reelection in Virginia's 4th Congressional District.
She defeats Republican challenger William "Bill" Moher, III in a race covering a newly re-drawn district for the U.S. House of Representatives.
As of 11 p.m. Tuesday with 72% precincts reporting, McClellan leads the race with 61% of the vote, compared to 38% for Moher III.
The election in Virginia's Fourth Congressional District was widely seen as a competitive race.
McClellan largely campaigned on affordable healthcare. She served in the state legislature for 17 years and was also Virginia's first Black woman member of Congress.
