Virginia sees over 2M votes cast early in 2024 election

Nearly 2.3 million voters in Virginia cast early and mail-in absentee ballots. However, elections officials will continue to get absentee ballots for several days.

VIRGINIA, USA — Millions of Virginians chose to vote early in the 2024 General Election, including more than 435,000 right here in Hampton Roads.

According to the Virginia Public Access Project, nearly 2.3 million early and mail-in absentee ballots had been cast across the Commonwealth, as of Saturday, which was the end of the state's early voting period. That’s fewer than in 2020, when 2.8 million early votes were cast.
