YORKTOWN, Va. — A Yorktown woman recently bought her first-ever lottery ticket, and won.

According to the Virginia Lottery, Katelynne Berland bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven at 115 Ottis Street in the Tabb area. It was on an errand to get lottery tickets for her mother when she decided to play herself, something she'd never done before.

Berland played the Pick 5 game on April 14, winning $50,000 in the day drawing with a five-digit combination of 2-9-4-2-3.
