SUFFOLK, Va. — A Suffolk woman and a Chesapeake man are $1 million richer!
Delores Smith and Billy Arnold have both won $1 million in lottery prizes, according to the Virginia Lottery.
Smith won the Mega Millions prize. The first five numbers were a match. She was just one number away from winning the jackpot. Her husband used Easy Picks, which allowed a computer to select numbers on the tickets randomly.
“It’s unbelievable," Smith told Lottery officials as she redeemed the winning ticket.
The winning numbers for the March 19 Mega Millions drawing were 24-46-49-62-66.
Meanwhile, Billy Arnold, a former Chesapeake teacher, won $1 million in Bank a Million game. He matched all the numbers and won the top prize.
“I’ve got all six numbers!” Arnold shouted.
He is a retired Chesapeake teacher and coach. He said he intends to get a new Harley Davidson motorcycle.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. Smith lives in Suffolk, which received more than $10.3 million in Lottery funds for K-12 this fiscal year. Arnold lives in Chesapeake, which received more than $27.2 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
