NORFOLK, Va. — Incorrect mail-in ballots have been mailed out to about 7,400 homes in Virginia Beach.

The Voter Registrar's Office was notified of a printing error on the mail-in ballots. Candidates for City Council in Districts 3 and 7, as well as School Board candidates in District 4, were printed in the wrong order, the City said.

The State notified the Voter Registrar’s Office they can re-print mail-in ballots. Officials are working with the printing vendor to re-print ballots and mail them out by Saturday to ensure the 45-day voting window.

A letter will be sent out to affected voters from the Voter Registrar’s Office explaining the error and instructions.

This means some residents can expect to receive two ballots in the mail, and they should disregard the first one with the printing error.

The City of Virginia Beach removed sample ballots from the City's website.

In-person voting has not been impacted.
