VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A soggy weekend forecast is putting a halt to one Virginia Beach Oceanfront festival.
Organizers announced that Neptune's 19th annual Spring Wine Festival, originally scheduled for May 18, is canceled due to rain.
"While spring is beautiful in Virginia, the weather is always a bit unpredictable," the festival said in a statement.
13News Now meteorologists say a low-pressure system is bringing chances for showers and possibly a few thunderstorms this weekend, with a wave of rain expected in the early Saturday morning and then picking up again for the afternoon and evening.
Wine Festival organizers said all tickets will be refunded by the buyer's original payment method within five to seven business days.
More Oceanfront events can be expected at the Oceanfront as the summer season gets underway, including the Symphony by the Sea Concert Series beginning in July, the 9th annual Coastal Craft Beer Festival on August 24, and the next wine festival -- Neptune's 27th Annual Fall Wine Festival -- scheduled to return September 13 and 14.
