Five candidates are running for the 2024 mayoral election: incumbent Bobby Dyer, businessman Richard "RK" Kowalewitch, former City Councilman John Moss, City Councilman Chris Taylor, and Councilwoman Sabrina Wooten.

The Virginia Beach Council of Civic Organizations hosted a candidate forum to help residents get to know who is running a little better and gave candidates the opportunity to share their vision for the city.

All five candidates took to the stage for a forum at Kellam High School on Monday night, touching on several topics from the budget and taxes to how to address homelessness in the city.

Dozens of residents came to listen, some of them sharing their appreciation for the engagement on a community level.

Early voting is now underway in Virginia Beach. Voters can cast their ballot at their local registrar or wait until election day on Nov. 5.
