Suspect in Gilmerton Ave. homicide apprehended

Tony Anthony McKeithan was apprehended by Portsmouth authorities on Wednesday for his alleged role in the Sept. 24 Gilmerton Ave. homicide.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The suspect in the Sept. 24 homicide of Marvin Lamar Hatcher on Gilmerton Avenue in Portsmouth was apprehended on Wednesday without incident, police said.

65-year-old Tony Anthony McKeithan, who also goes by the nicknames "Tiger" and "Tony the Tiger," is suspected of shooting 38-year-old Hatcher at approximately 10:20 a.m. in the 300 block of Gilmerton Avenue. Hatcher died on the scene once police arrived. 

McKeithan is charged with first degree murder, malicious shooting, discharge of a firearm in public, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, school zone and use of a firearm.

He is currently being held without bail.
