Search underway for suspect in Sept. 24 Portsmouth homicide

According to the Portsmouth Police Major Crime Unit, 65-year-old Tony Anthony McKeithan is considered armed and dangerous.
Just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Portsmouth police received a call about a shooting on Gilmerton Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man injured by gunfire.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth police are requesting the public's assistance in locating a suspect believed to be involved with a Sept. 24 homicide, the department said in a press release.

Around 10:20 a.m., officers said they responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Gilmerton Avenue. When they arrived they found 38-year-old Marvin Lamar Hatcher with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives with Portsmouth Police Major Crime Unit are now searching for Hactoer's suspected killer,  65-year-old Tony Anthony McKeithan also known as “Tiger” or “Tony the Tiger.

McKeithan is charged with Murder in the 1st Degree, Malicious Shooting, Discharge of a Firearm in Public, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, School Zone, and Use of a Firearm.

Authorities warn he is to be considered armed and dangerous.
