Portsmouth police warn that 27-year-old Jamel Raiquon Jones is to be considered armed and dangerous.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Portsmouth Police Department is warning the public to be on the lookout for a second suspect wanted in connection to an Oct. 20 shooting that killed a man and injured two on Jefferson Street.

27-year-old Jamel Raiquon Jones – who is considered armed and dangerous – is wanted for first-degree murder, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, malicious wounding, shooting across a roadway, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharge of a firearm in a public place.

On Oct. 20, police were called to the 2300 block of Jefferson Street for a shooting. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered a man who had been shot and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, two other victims of the same shooting checked themselves into a local hospital for treatment of their gunshot wounds. The hospital then notified the authorities that one of the walk-in victims, 44-year-old Danyelle Akoya Lee, succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.

Two days later, officers arrested the first suspect in connection to the triple shooting, 19-year-old Torian Jamari Sexton.

He is charged with one count of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, and several firearm-related charges.
