NORFOLK, Va. — Tiffany Marie Jackson has been found safe a few blocks away from her home, the deputy chief of Norfolk Police confirmed on Friday.
Virginia State Police had issued a CODI Alert a few hours ago for a 12-year-old Norfolk girl who was reported missing on Thursday.
According to the Norfolk Police Department, Jackson was last seen at her home in the 3700 block of Amherst Street around 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 10.
The "Critical Operation for a Disappeared Child Initiative" or CODI Alert, has been in place in Virginia since September. It is named for 4-year-old Codi Bigsby, who was never found after he was reported missing in Hampton in 2022. At the time, police had not issued an AMBER Alert because they did not believe the boy was abducted.
With the CODI Alerts, Virginia State Police can put out a new alert for children under 18 or who are currently enrolled in a secondary school, who are missing under suspicious circumstances, or if there is a threat to their health and safety.
