NORFOLK, Va. — In honor of the upcoming 2024 hurricane season, Chief Meteorologist Tim Pandajis made a special appearance for the Norfolk Tides' Hurricane Preparedness night.
13News Now hosted Hurricane Preparedness Night at Harbor Park to educate Hampton Roads residents about hurricane safety and planning.
Chief meteorologist Tim Pandajis threw the first pitch at the Norfolk Tides game.
Pandajis touted the importance of having a plan for hurricanes. Hurricane season starts on Saturday, June 1, and runs through November.
"It's not a question of if a hurricane strikes, but when. And having plan, being prepared for when that day comes is certainly advisable," Pandajis said.
He stressed the need for evacuation plans and being prepared for the unexpected event of a hurricane.
"There is so much you can do to make the stress lower. Prepare for the event, have an evacuation plan for you, your family and pets. All that is very, very important," Pandajis explained.'
