HAMPTON, Va. — After almost two years of being closed, Paradise Ocean Club in Hampton is opening its doors once again.
The popular Fort Monroe bar and restaurant reopened at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, and already has a lineup of bands and performances set for Memorial Day Weekend.
The closure happened in 2022 because of lease renewal negotiations with the National Park Service -- which owns the property -- and safety concerns in the area.
Restaurant owner Baxter Simmons previously told 13News Now the new 10-year lease agreement includes revised security and parking plans.
Simmons said they want to be more family-friendly, and the capacity will now be 1,000 people. They didn't enforce a limit before, and there will be no boat access.
