HAMPTON, Va. — A man was injured after he was hit by a car while in a motorized wheelchair in Hampton Monday morning, police said.
The crash happened at the intersection of Charlton Drive and West Mercury Boulevard, in the Coliseum Central area of the city.
Police responded around 11:40 a.m. and found the man with minor injuries. Medics took him to a hospital to be treated, according to the Hampton Police Division.
Investigators believe the man was trying to cross Charlton Drive in the crosswalk when a vehicle stopped at the red light, rolled forward and hit the wheelchair, causing him to fall over.
The Hampton Police Division said no one has been charged at this time.
