HAMPTON, Va. — A man was arrested in connection to the murder of a 38-year-old man in Hampton, police said.
Javor Phillips has been charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, willful discharge of a firearm in public, and reckless handling, according to the Hampton Police Division (HPD).
The shooting happened May 19 on Catalpa Avenue, just off of Victoria Boulevard. The police division said officers had responded to Catalpa Avenue for a report of a shooting.
Upon arriving at the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m. that day, officers found a man who had been shot multiple times lying in the roadway. The victim, later identified as Derrick Lindsay, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Phillips was taken into custody with the help of US Marshals on June 26, HPD said.
