HAMPTON, Va. — A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot multiple times in Hampton Sunday afternoon.
In a social media post, the Hampton Police Division (HPD) shared that officers had responded to Catalpa Avenue, just off Victoria Boulevard for a report of a shooting.
Upon arriving at the scene shortly after 12:30 p.m., HPD said officers found a 38-year-old man who had been shot multiple times lying in the roadway. The victim, later identified as Derrick Lindsay, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
“I don’t feel comfortable living here anymore," one neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, told 13News Now on the scene. "I wish the gun problem would go away.”
