Deadly shooting on E. Virginia Beach Blvd in Norfolk

Police say someone shot a man to death late Friday night.

NORFOLK, Va. — One man is dead after a late-night shooting on East Virginia Beach Boulevard in Norfolk.

Police got the call about gunshots around 11:50 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, they found a man hurt from a gunshot wound. Medics rushed that man, identified as 18-year-old John E. Daughtry III, to the hospital, but he did not survive.

Norfolk Police have not said if any businesses or homes in the area are connected to the shooting and they have not named any suspects.

13News Now spoke with multiple people near the scene Saturday morning. A nearby resident named Del said he did not hear the gunshots, but hearing about a homicide in his neighborhood gives him pause.

"It's a nice neighborhood," he said, "[but] that made me afraid."

This is the second homicide in Norfolk in three days. On Wednesday, officers responded to the Community Beach Park on E. Ocean View Avenue to find a 20-year-old gunshot victim. The man, Andrew Saafi, also died later at the hospital.

No arrests have been reported in either shooting.

Anyone with information about either shooting is encouraged to call the anonymous Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or submit information using the P3Tips mobile app.
