Virginia Department of Emergency Management employee tests positive for coronavirus

VDEM released details about an employee testing positive for COVID-19. The agency has contacted other employees who may have been exposed.

RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Department of Emergency Management has confirmed that one of their employees contracted COVID-19.

They released details about the case on Saturday.

Officials say the employee tested positive for the novel coronavirus and that agency leaders have notified other employees who may have been in close contact with the infected worker.

The agency is also working closely with the Virginia Department of Health.

VDEM officials have made sure their employees are up to date on necessary precautions, preventative measures and the plan of action in the event of more possible exposures.

There are 45 coronavirus cases in Virginia. The Peninsula Health District reported that one person died from the illness.
