VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man will spend seven years behind bars for distributing "horrific images" of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), the Department of Justice said on Friday.
Prosecutors said 39-year-old Dustin Roy Harrell distributed video depicting the sexual abuse of a newborn baby on an end-to-end encryption messaging app that keeps communications private.
According to court documents, police seized multiple electronic devices including three cell phones, which forensic examination uncovered hundreds of images and five videos of CSAM.
One of the devices showed Harrell talking about child pornography and incest, and that he participated in online groups with names like "Cute Teens 16-19" "Uncensored Teens" and more.
Harrell was sentenced to prison for seven years, prosecutors said.
