Man injured in Hampton shooting

Officers responded to a shooting on Lincoln Street after midnight.

HAMPTON, Va. — Police are investigating after a man was shot Monday morning, the Hampton Police Division (HPD) said.

HPD responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Lincoln Street at 12:39 a.m.

When officers arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed the suspect approached the man and exchanged words with him. Then the suspect shot the man in the back.

HPD is investigating this incident.
