When officers arrived at the scene near the shopping center on Church Street shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, they found a woman shot.

At the scene, Karen Parker-Chesson, NPD's community relations manager, told 13News Now the shooting stemmed from an argument between two men.

"An innocent bystander who happened to be in the vicinity was struck by gunfire," said Parker-Chesson. "Right now that person has non-life-threatening injuries."

The victim was taken to a hospital for further treatment but is expected to recover.

Police urge people who may have information about the shooting to call the Crime Line at 1-888-562-5887.
