Suspect in Hampton convenience store shooting named

Jordan Tyrell Hackney, 22, is considered armed and dangerous, the Hampton Police Division said.

HAMPTON, Va. — The Hampton Police Division has identified the man they say shot and injured another man inside a Kwik-E Mart in Hampton Monday morning.

Jordan Tyrell Hackney, 22, has warrants on file for one count each of maiming and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is wanted and should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

According to police, the suspect fired a weapon inside the convenience store located near the corner of Floyd Thompson Boulevard and Neil Armstrong Parkway around 9:30 a.m. Monday.

A 37-year-old man was struck once by the gunfire. The victim was taken to the hospital with an injury that police said was not considered life-threatening.

Hackney allegedly ran from the store before police arrived.  Investigators said the suspect and victim knew each other before the shooting.
