Suspect sought in Hampton convenience store shooting

The suspect ran from the Kwik-E Mart before officers arrived at the scene, police say.

HAMPTON, Va. — A man is on the run after authorities say he shot and injured another man inside a Kwik-E Mart in Hampton Monday morning.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., the suspect, who has not been publicly identified, fired a weapon inside the convenience store located near the corner of Floyd Thompson Boulevard and Neil Armstrong Parkway, according to the Hampton Police Division (HPD).

A 37-year-old man was struck once by the gunfire, leaving him with an injury deemed not life-threatening. He was brought to a hospital for further treatment.

The suspect, who HPD says is known to the victim, ran from the store before police arrived. Police have not publicly identified the suspect, however.
