ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. — Investigators in Isle of Wight County are looking for a man suspected of having shot and killed another man in the Carrollton area of the county on Thursday.
According to a spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office, they initially responded to a report of a possible shooting victim on Smith's Neck Road at around 5:30 p.m.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim, 30-year-old Marvin Guillaume-Sam of Flushing, New York, with multiple gunshot injuries.
"We are still trying to piece together how he ended up in the backseat of that car - we do know that the shooting did occur in that general area where the car was," Captain Tommy Potter, Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office said after the incident.
The investigation into this homicide led the Sheriff's Office to identify the suspect as 22-year-old Travis Wilson, who they said is known to live off-and-on with family in Carrolton. He also has ties to New York.
Wilson is 6’2”, and weighs approximately 120 lbs. He has a small facial tattoo in the area of his left eye. He also goes by the name of, “Nino Gambino”.
Potter said at this time they do not believe Guillaume-Sam's death is road rage related, although the investigation is ongoing.
He was brought to the hospital in Newport News, where he died. He was then transported to the Chief Medical Examiner's office in Norfolk. Investigators have not yet provided insight into the victim's connection to Isle of Wight County.
The spokesperson said Travis Wilson should be considered armed and extremely dangerous. They said: "Do not approach or engage the suspect. If you see him, immediately call 911."
