NORFOLK, Va. — The man who's accused of murdering a Norfolk woman nearly 40 years ago is facing extra charges.
Dennis Bowman was arrested and extradited from Michigan to Virginia to answer for his alleged role in Kathleen Doyle's death.
Doyle was the wife of a U.S. Navy pilot. She was 25 at the time of her death.
Bowman now faces rape and burglary charges alongside his first-degree murder charge. Detectives noted that forensic evidence in Doyle's murder case helped lead them to Bowman.
He was arrested at his home in Allegan County, Michigan last November. It was there that investigators found skeletal remains in a shallow grave underneath the home.
Detectives believe the remains could be that of Bowman's adopted daughter, Aundria, who went missing in 1989 at the age of 14. They're currently waiting on lab results to find out who the remains belong to.
Bowman will appear in court to answer for charges in Doyle's murder on April 30.
