VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A North Carolina man is in custody after abducting his 2-year-old from her bed in Virginia Beach early Saturday morning, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) said.
In a release on Sunday, police said 27-year-old Deandre Dorsey and his daughter, Zuri, were found outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Dorsey was subsequently arrested.
The two were found one day after authorities announced the toddler was taken from a home on Sapphire Drive near Fire Opal Drive at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. An AMBER Alert was issued later that Saturday as authorities believed Zuri was in "extreme danger."
Law enforcement suspected Dorsey was heading toward Lewiston Woodville, North Carolina.
No other information was immediately released.
