Franklin man arrested in April robbery and assault

The victim lost her purse, credit cards, and cash and suffered a minor injury in the assault.

FRANKLIN, Va. — One of the suspects from an April 4 robbery has been arrested, according to a Southampton County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Dalveon Ricks, 25, of Franklin, had active felony warrants pertaining to the abduction and robbery on April 4, the press release stated. On Sept. 18, the sheriff’s office developed information concerning his whereabouts and obtained and executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Cameron Street in Franklin. Ricks was apprehended without further incident and transported to the Southampton County Jail.

The robbery and assault in Courtland happened in the 25000 block of Oak Trail. A woman said she was robbed in the parking lot of an apartment complex by three men, and her purse, credit cards, and cash were stolen. She was also assaulted and suffered a minor injury.

There is no word on the status of the other two suspects or whether they have been apprehended.

Ricks received no bond. His next court date is in Southampton County General District Court on Oct. 15, 2024.
