Newton played football there and would have graduated this spring.

Loved ones are now calling for an end to the violence.

"My son did not live the lifestyle that his killers lived," said Viccarra Coker, Newtown's mother.

"Not only do we need peace for this family, not only do we need comfort for this family but we need justice for this family," said John Davis with the Office of Youth & Young Adult Opportunities. "So when it comes down to it young people, we need to stop the violence. We need to put the guns down."

Hampton police said someone shot Newton on Michigan Drive last Monday. The teen tried to drive away but lost control of his car just a couple of minutes down the road and crashed into a ditch.

No arrests have been made in this case.

Newton is the fourth teen to be shot in Hampton Roads in less than a week and the third to die.
