HAMPTON, Va. — A suspect is on the run after shooting a teenager multiple times, killing him in Hampton Monday night, authorities said.
As Hampton Police Division was responding to a report of multiple gunshots on Michigan Drive at around 7:15 p.m., officers learned of a vehicle in a ditch nearby on LaSalle Avenue.
At the scene of the crash, officers found a 17-year-old who had been shot multiple times inside the vehicle. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where police said he ultimately died from his injuries.
Law enforcement believes the victim was shot on Michigan Drive before attempting to flee the area and losing control of his vehicle, causing him to drive into a nearby ditch.
Police did not provide a description of the suspect. No other information was immediately released.
