ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — An Elizabeth City woman is charged with murdering her husband, nearly a month after he was run over, authorities announced on Wednesday.
In a news release, the Elizabeth City Police Department said 44-year-old Tyisha Major was once again arrested in the deadly Feb. 8 crash, this time on a murder charge. She was previously arrested directly after the incident on charges of death by motor vehicle and driving while impaired.
Major's latest arrest comes after a Pasquotank County Grand Jury returned a"true bill" of indictment for the murder of her husband, 43-year-old Jermaine Major.
On Feb. 8, police responded to the intersection of White and Walstron streets and found Jermaine Major ensnared under an Acura sedan, police said at the time. Crews worked to free the man, however, he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have not said what led up to the deadly crash.
The police department urges anyone with additional information about this incident to contact the Elizabeth City Police Department at 252-335-4321 or the Crime Line at 252-335-5555. All information received will remain anonymous and strictly confidential.
