Juvenile, man in custody after Elizabeth City shooting injured 1

The charges come nearly three weeks after the initial shooting sent a 30-year-old man to a hospital.

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Two people, a man and a juvenile, were taken into custody for a shooting in Elizabeth City earlier this month, authorities announced Sunday.

Nearly three weeks after a 30-year-old man was shot and injured on Tatem Lane, police officers from Edenton and Elizabeth City executed a search warrant for a home they believed was connected to the incident.

Malachi White, 19, was also arrested in connection to the Feb. 3 shooting. White was booked into Chowan County Jail on similar charges as the juvenile, with an additional count of discharging a firearm into an occupied property.

White was slated to make his first court appearance on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information that may be related to the case is urged to call the Elizabeth City Police Department at 252-335-4321 or the Crime Line at 252-335-5555.
