ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — A man is in the hospital following a shooting in Elizabeth City late Saturday night, authorities announced Sunday.
The Elizabeth City Police Department (ECPD) was alerted to reports of shots fired on Tatem Lane just after 10:45 p.m.
While responding to the scene, officers learned a man suffering from a gunshot wound had arrived at Sentara Albermarle Medical Center. His injuries were determined to not be life-threatening.
An initial investigation led officers to Cahoon Street and Butlers Lane where multiple shell casings were discovered. ECPD said it was determined the incident happened there.

This was the second shooting reported in Elizabeth City on Saturday.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m., police said a 38-year-old man was found shot in the area of Weeksville Road and Industrial Park. He was rushed to a hospital but is expected to survive.
Police have not announced arrests or any suspect information in either case.
