PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A 19-year-old woman is facing multiple charges, including murder, in a domestic-related shooting in Portsmouth on Friday, authorities announced.
In a release on Saturday, Portsmouth police announced Ahlessha Sykes was arrested on first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting in the commission of felony charges.
The charges stem from a shooting in the area of Frederick Boulevard and Bart Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The gunshot victim, a 23-year-old man, was rushed to a hospital where he later died. Officials have not publicly identified him or said how he knew Sykes.
Police said Sykes was seen running from the scene but was apprehended nearby.
Authorities have not yet said what led up to the shooting.
