19-year-old arrested and charged in Virginia Beach homicide

Officers arrived at Fox Creek Court near Lynbrook Landing on Monday and found 20-year-old Keshawn Woodhouse with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A young man has been arrested in connection to a homicide in Virginia Beach, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) said.

After receiving a 911 call about someone who had been shot, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 600 block of Fox Creek Court around 9:40 a.m. Monday.

They arrived to find 20-year-old Keshawn Woodhouse of Virginia Beach suffering from critical gunshot wounds. First responders attempted to render aid, but Woodhouse ultimately died from his injuries at the scene.

An initial investigation by VBPD homicide detectives determined the suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Javon Pollard, fled the scene following the shooting and was involved in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Lynbrook Landing and Baker Road.

Pollard's vehicle was tracked to Portsmouth via Flock license plate reader cameras.

With the assistance of Portsmouth Police Department SWAT, Pollard was apprehended without incident in less than 13 hours after the shooting.

“This quick arrest is once again a testament to the incredible teamwork and dedication of your Virginia Beach Police Department," Police Chief Paul Neudigate stated in a news release. "My thanks go out to our homicide, warrant fugitive, and special investigations detectives, along with the assistance of Portsmouth PD, who were able to bring some timely closure to the family of Mr. Woodhouse.”

Pollard is charged with second-degree murder, unauthorized use of a firearm, attempted robbery, and felony hit and run. He was also served with unrelated warrants from Newport News and Portsmouth.
