HAMPTON, Va. — A 17-year-old boy from Newport News has been arrested following a shooting at a McDonald’s in Hampton that sent an employee to the hospital last month.
The Hampton Police Division said the teen was charged with one count each of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, assault by mob, concealed weapon, underage possession of a firearm, brandishing and obtaining money by false pretense.
The suspect's name wasn't shared because he is a minor.
Investigators believe a person met with the suspect inside the restaurant to buy a video game console. At some point, the two got into a physical fight, and the suspect pulled out a gun and fired it.
A McDonald's employee who was not involved in the fight was grazed by the bullet. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
