VIRGINIA, USA — Monday kicked off both Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week, two careers that are constantly giving to their communities while facing unique stressors and challenges, on top of labor shortages and burnout.
This week reminds educators and healthcare providers that their hard work is appreciated. To celebrate and show appreciation for the people working these jobs, several businesses across Hampton Roads are offering discounts and freebies.
Teachers & Nurses
Buffalo Wild Wings: Teachers and nurses get a 20% discount on all orders with a valid ID from May 6 through May 12.
Insomnia Cookies: Teachers and nurses get a free cookie when you show proof of employment. This offer is valid from May 6 through May 12 and no purchase is necessary.
McAlister's Deli: Teachers and nurses get a free tea with no purchase necessary when you show your badge or ID. This deal is valid from May 6 through May 12.
Teachers
Edible: Teachers, staff and graduating students can get a buy-one-get-one dipped fruit cones at participating locations. This offer is available Monday through Friday until June 7.
Nauticus: Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin are offering free admission to all educators from May 6 through May 12. The museum recommends teachers reserve their ticket online to secure a spot and to have a valid ID ready to check in at the front desk.
Sonic: For teachers enrolled in the Sonic Teachers' Circle Rewards program, you can get a a variety of free or buy-one-get-one deals in the app, including entrees, drinks, slushes, sides, and more. You can dine these deals in the app through May 20. Additionally, a portion of every drink item sold goes towards Limeades for Learning, which supports local public schools.
Staples: Need to restock on school supplies? Teachers can get free supply kits including markers, pens, pencils, glue, and more at participating stores while supplies last. You must have a teacher ID to get one. Teachers can also get a 20% discount on in-store purchases when you present your teacher ID.
Nurses
Chipotle: Healthcare professionals have the chance to sign up to get free burritos in celebration of National Nurses Week. 100,000 healthcare workers will get these free burrito cards, which is about $1 million in free Chipotle. You can enter to win until May 10.
Skechers: Nurses can get an extra 10% off any in-store purchase. This offer is available through the end of May.
