VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The legendary Norfolk-based Handsome Biscuit is planning to open a second location later this summer, the restaurant announced Tuesday morning.
The new location will be in Virginia Beach at 4224 Virginia Beach Boulevard. The restaurant didn't give a specific timeline but said to stay tuned for updates on the opening day and hiring of employees.
"ROCK AND ROLL!!!" the restaurant wrote on social media.
Located in Norfolk's Railroad District, the restaurant offers a variety of biscuit sandwiches, most notably the "Hella Fitzgerald" with fried chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and pork sausage gravy. Other options include the Nashville, which has fried chicken tossed in hot sauce and pickles, and the Old School PBJ.
The new location comes after the restaurant competed in Garden and Gun's "Biscuit Bracket" alongside national chain restaurants, convenience stores, regional brands and local favorites to see who made the best biscuit in the South. While Handsome Biscuit didn't win, it came very close.
